Seales Premium Quality Summer Pellet Range

The Seales range of pelletised summer feeds consists of Waikato or Taranaki Summer Special, Summer-Pro Plus and Maxi Pro.  Seales summer feeds have been specifically formulated for high producing cows and are targeted at the post peak summer period.  The main difference between the summer range of products is the varying protein levels.  For product specifications on the full summer range click below.

Maize Silage Balancer

Maize silage is a high quality forage supplement. However, it is particularly low in Sodium (Na), Calcium (Ca) and Phosphorus (P), and can be used as an effective carrier to supplement cows with Magnesium (Mg).  Seales Maize Silage Balancer can be used as a cost effective means of adding essential minerals to an animal’s diet especially when maize silage is a significant component of the diet, during summer and autumn.  Seales Maize Silage Balancer has been developed with this in mind.

Seales Triple Mix Protein Blend

Seales Triple Mix Protein Blend has been developed as a superior alternative to PKE whilst maintaining the flexibility in feeding due to being safe to feed ad-lib.  The ingredients in Seales Triple Mix Protein Blend provide a more readily digestible protein and energy source than straight PKE with the added benefit of containing calcium, a variety of vitamins, minerals and amino acids.  The ingredients in Seales Triple Mix Protein Blend can also assist in body condition and milk production and can offer a good transition towards Seales top quality pelletised products.  Seales Triple Mix Protein Blend is suitable for dry or lactating animals, however due to the lime content should not be fed 4-6 weeks prior to calving.

Broll

Broll (otherwise known as wheat bran) is a coarse by product of milling wheat into flour and is a mixture of bran and pollard.  This can be a valuable feed for ruminants as a source of slowly degradable carbohydrate during feed shortages.  Broll provides the rumen bugs with a source of energy required for them to process the protein from grass and other forages into forms of protein which are useable by the cow for milk production and growth. Broll is a good source of protein and an excellent source of carbohydrate and fibre.  Broll also contains good quantities of starch (15%) which can assist in milk protein production.  Broll contains approximately 16% protein, 12 MJ ME, 10% fibre and and NDF level of around 40%. 

PKE

Palm Kernel Expeller is a by-product produced during the extraction of palm oil.  It contains approximately 9% Oil, 17% Crude Protein and 11 MJ ME/kg DM (energy) and is a safe stock feed for most classes of livestock, due to low levels of starch and sugar.  PKE does have a relatively high NDF level of around 69% meaning it takes a lot longer to digest than many other feeds.  While PKE is generally a lower cost  option it may not provide the same returns as higher cost grain based supplements.
